Our STORY

Founded in the early 1980s, Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley & Northeast Pennsylvania has grown from a small, local initiative to a vital regional resource serving six counties.

KEY MILESTONES

1983

Became affiliated with the Philadelphia Food Bank and Second Harvest National Food Bank Network (now Feeding America)

1983

Benefited from Pennsylvania's State Food Purchase Program and federal TEFAP program

1995

Expanded service area to cover Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, and Wayne counties

1986-2015

Grew from operating out of a rented truck to occupying a 65,000-square-foot facility in Nazareth, PA

Fiscal Year 2024

Distributed over 16 million pounds of food
