November 6, 2015: The Seed Farm hosted a workshop on Food Safety and Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), presented by PASA and the PA Department of Agriculture. This article by Lancaster Farming, “Audits Help Farms Manage Food Safety Risk,” covered the morning’s events and the importance of following on-farm food safety guidelines.
October 26, 2015: FOCUS, a PBS39 series that covers topics of interest in the Lehigh Valley, dedicated an episode to the $17 million local food economy and to local farmland preservation and farmer training efforts in our region. Seed Farm staff and board members were interviewed as part of the episode.
April 2015: The Seed Farm, along with many of our graduates, were photographed and/or profiled in Lehigh Valley Style’s feature article, “Growing Our Next Crop of Farmers“.
March 25, 2015: The Reading Eagle’s Berks Country publication discussed a growing interest in farming, as well as The Seed Farm’s training program and incubator, in their article, “Growing Farmers“.
Winter 2015: The Seed Farm is featured in a publication of the Cornell Small Farms Program, Small Farms Quarterly: “The Seed Farm Grows Next Generation of Farmers”.
October 24, 2014: The Seed Farm, Penn State Extension, and Buy Fresh Buy Local of the Greater Lehigh Valley hosted a Scaling Up workshop, which helped farmers to understand the needs of institutional buyers and improve their food safety procedures and adopt new farm efficiencies and labor management tools in order to meet the unique needs of these larger wholesale buyers.
October 1, 2014: The Morning Call covered our 4th annual farm to table dinner & auction, presented by GrowLV by Sodexo and featuring ingredients from over 15 local farms– including the farms of six of our graduates.
