Welcome, Khushboo Jain, our newest nutrition educator! Check out our Q&A with Khushboo and get to know her.
What were you doing before coming to Second Harvest?
I was working part time at Drexel University with the Center for Nutrition and Performance in the Nutrition Department as an Assistant Manager.
What does your job entail?
Working with local food pantries to enable them to be provide “healthier” foods to their clients through environmental changes in the pantry and supplying direct and indirect nutrition education tools and resources to pantries and their clients.
I also teach nutrition education classes to families, adults, teens and children for the Cooking Matters programming at our host-partner sites in the Leigh Valley area!
What is your favorite part of your job?
Working with people at pantries and knowing what I am doing is making a difference in someone’s day-to-day life!
What is something you wish people understood about poverty and hunger?
Not everyone has the same access! Providing nutrition education without the understanding of the pitfalls of food access makes the education less relatable and less useful to the clientele.
What do you like to do when you are not at work?
Boxing, Painting, Cooking!
What is your life motto?
“Be yourself and be it well!” It’s a quote that my professor and mentor had used on my first day of college, and I try to live by it every day!
