Welcome Dalton Link, our new Retail Recovery Coordinator! Dalton helps create partnerships between our local retail grocers and food pantries within our six counties.

Check out this Q & A with Dalton!

How long have you been working for Second Harvest?

4 months

What were you doing before working for Second Harvest?

I was selling and delivering craft beer throughout the Lehigh Valley

What does your job entail?

Retail Recovery is like casting roles for a ballet and matching the best dance partners for each other. Strong connections between Retail Grocers and Enabled Pantries mean less excess food is needlessly wasted. Motivated partnerships mean more meals are available to nourish our neighbors in need. I help network together these relationships across all 6 counties.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I am happiest when hearing and relaying positive feedback from an Enabled Pantry to their Retail Grocer partner. Who doesn’t love food that’s greener, better, fresher, stronger?!

What is something you wish everyone knew about food insecurity?

Much like food insecurity, food waste is a chronic issue on small and large scales in our country. The many, many meals recovered at the grocery store level, these are set aside by real, breathing people who have chosen not to throw away perfectly nutritious food. This food makes the difference for hundreds of thousands of families. By reducing our individual food waste, we can all make an impact, too

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

Lately, I’ve been quilting, river floating, woodworking with reclaimed pallets, and tending to my Chinese Python Snake Bean plant.

What is your life motto?

There’s always more to learn about yourself.
