Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania is pleased to announce that the Food Bank’s Advisory Board elected Betsy Storey-Bono as Board Chair. Storey-Bono joined the Advisory Board in May 2016 and succeeds Michael Tukeva, President and CEO of Pocono Mountains United Way as Chair. Tukeva joined the Second Harvest Advisory Board in March 2013 and was elected Chair in January 2018.

Betsy Storey-Bono is the Director of Business Development and Marketing for Concannon Miller, the Lehigh Valley’s leading Certified Public Accounting and Business Consulting firm. Storey-Bono started with the firm in 2003 as its first-ever marketing professional and has since added three members to her team.

In addition to her new role as Chair of the Second Harvest Advisory Board, Storey-Bono is a member of the ArtsQuest marketing committee and CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women Network) Lehigh Valley. She serves as a mentor in the Chamber’s Women’s Business Council’s Women-to-Women mentoring programs. In 2017, Storey-Bono was named a Lehigh Valley Business Women of Influence, and was the 2018 recipient of the Athena Leadership Award. Storey-Bono said, “Food insecurity is pervasive in our community, but largely unseen by those who do not have the problem – it’s a blind spot. The fact that 60,000 people per month rely on the food Second Harvest distributes is staggering.  Everyone involved with Second Harvest Food Bank is so committed – the staff, the volunteers, the board; I am extremely honored to be a part of the organization.”

Second Harvest is equally delighted to announce that Lisa Higgins has accepted the role of Co-Chair of the Advisory Board. Higgins joined the Advisory Board in January 2018.

Higgins began her career as an agricultural journalist working for regional and national farm magazines, then became an administrator in professional theatre for 30+ years. She was a founding staff member of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival at DeSales University, where she designed and built the marketing and public relations architecture that lead the company to many seasons of record-breaking attendance. Higgins currently serves as an editorial assistant for retirementincomejournal.com. Previously, Higgins served as a Girl Scout leader, PTA president at Union Terrace Elementary in Allentown, public school volunteer, and freelance writer and editor. Higgins said, “Food security and food quality is central to every family and to our larger communities.  It’s an honor to serve as a volunteer for Second Harvest.”
