How long have you been working for Second Harvest?

Since September 7, 2021.

What were you doing before working for Second Harvest?

I worked in libraries for over 30 years.

What does your job entail?

Primarily my job consists of keeping track of inventory that is going out of the building to agencies, so that includes printing out orders, making sure agencies get what they ordered, and overall, being aware of any changes to inventory in the warehouse. A lot of times I feel like Sherlock Holmes, trying to solve mysteries.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I like the challenge of using a different thinking strategy than I did in my previous profession.

What is something you wish everyone knew about food insecurity?

Food insecurity can affect any person at any time.

What do you like to do when you are not at work?

I just got my motorcycle license in October. I’ve been riding as much as I can, weather permitting. Otherwise, I spend way too much useless time on social media.

What is your life motto?

Last year a friend posted a quote on social media which comes from a humanistic philosophy that said, “How to win at life:  Step 1. Let people do what they need to do to make them happy, mind your own business and do what you need to do to make you happy. The end.”  That quote really resonated with me, and so I’ve been incorporating that into how I view life every day.
