Second Harvest is a member of Feeding Pennsylvania, a partnership formed among Pennsylvania’s Feeding America member food banks. Our collective effort promotes and aids our members in securing food and other resources to reduce hunger and food insecurity for their communities and across Pennsylvania, and provides a shared voice on the issues of hunger and food access within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Second Harvest is a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. The Feeding America network consists of 200 food banks across the country. As food insecurity rates hold steady at the highest levels ever, the Feeding America network of food banks has risen to meet the need.
Hunger-Free Pennsylvania is the commonwealth’s single largest nonprofit provider of food resources for hungry families and one of the state’s leading advocates in the fight against hunger.
Second Harvest is a program of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley, whose mission is to improve the quality of life by building a community in which all people have access to economic opportunity, the ability to pursue that opportunity, and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
Member agencies
Hunger affects each and every community, and we believe no community can thrive unless all of its residents are healthy. We partner with over 200 non-profit member agencies to distribute food to our neighbors-in-need across our six-county territory. Last year, this network of member agencies distributed a total of nine million pounds of food to a collective average of 60,000 people each month. Member agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, child and senior care programs, and drug and alcohol treatment facilities.
