Right Here, Right Now, People are Hungry.
People in our region have been affected by recent hard economic times beyond the loss of jobs and homes to the most basic level of human need - providing enough food to feed themselves and their families.
Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania is helping thousands of people who are struggling to put food on the table throughout our six-county service area. Last year, Second Harvest distributed 6.38 million pounds of food to our network of over 200 member agencies. Now, our member agencies are serving over 69,000 people each month.
At Second Harvest, we believe that no one should ever go hungry and that access to sufficient sources of nutritious food is essential to building sustainable healthy communities.
Our mission is to obtain food and distribute it to people in need through area non-profits and to provide resources for education and advocacy to end hunger.
We put our beliefs into action with an organized effort to feed people in need and the implementation of coordinated advocacy and educational campaigns. Our goal is to reduce the causes of hunger and ultimately eliminate poverty throughout our region. This effort is powered by the dedication and generosity of our community volunteers and donors.
Whether you have a need for nutritious food to feed yourself or your loved ones, or a desire to make a real difference in the hunger crisis now affecting our community, we invite you to join us.
Consider this website to be your first step in the fight against hunger in our community. And, when you are ready for the next step, contact us.
